A Day of Growth

Tuesday is now over and the students are getting in the vans to go home. This camp is proving to be rich in spiritual growth. During the small groups, we're able to discuss serious matters, with the students hearing godly counsel on personal matters.

Kristian led the morning devotional. One of the students, Teophatsu, had been discussing her eye problems with Vickie via Facebook prior to the camp. We found out that Dr. Blessman from Blessman Ministries was going to be here during the camp, and today did an eye exam for her. He was able to provide her multiple sets of prescription glasses, one for reading and another for distance vision. She'll certainly be able to do better in school with this blessing. She was one happy and grateful young lady. The Lord was gracious to make a way for this child of His.

Tonight, after our day of activities and studies, we held the first annual ILA Talent Show. Kristian, GW, and Teresa were the distinguished panel of judges. We had acts ranging from moving poetry, dance with hula-hoops, soccer demonstrations, solos, mime, and even a comedian who told a joke in Tswana (which was hilarious even though we didn't 'get it'!) It was a great night of laughing and encouragement, high-fives and applause. These kinds of times are special for the many kids that come from broken families. It was as if the room was full of brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts, and grandparents. Nobody really wanted to leave when it ended.

During our small group meeting tonight, I asked Thebi and Terrance, my two boys, if they had any things we needed to pray for. Terrance said we needed to pray for many of the students in his school. They were not living for God and making bad decisions and needed God in their lives. I was touched by his concern for others, and wisdom far beyond his 15 years. It doesn't take long to see why these students are exceptional in all ways.

Tomorrow we finish up the crafts and Teresa wraps up her World View classes. All are doing well tonight.

For the entire team,

Hal
