The story involves the adventures of a young man named Larry Tucker. He's a chemistry-major at Montana State University who discovers a chemical with properties that can change the world. But the superpowers want to control the change, even though no one can foresee the result.

He's kidnapped and arrested, accused of sabotage, taken aboard Air Force One to meet the President, and eventually is the key player in an international summit that changes the history of planet Earth.
